The ONLY Harrogate crime writer event that matters
Saturday 8th July 2023
It was a thundery, rainy Saturday afternoon when myself and my hubby, Mark (also official photographer!) travelled over to Harrogate to take part in the Books & Beverages crime writer panel.
I love these kind of events. It’s a chance to talk about our work, which is always a treat, but more than that it’s great to meet readers, and introduce my books to a new audience – and readers are the best! I liken it to finding an unexpected present under the Christmas tree, or pulling the purple one from a box of Quality Streets. There is always a new writer mentioned, or as in this instance, a panel of authors that I hadn’t previously met – apart from Stephanie Rogers, we’re good friends.

Books and Beverages is a blog and platform run by Sue, Edwin and Kate. Their aim is to promote and give a platform to independent authors. Their events are usually held on a Friday lunchtime but it proved so popular – crime books are the most borrowed books in many libraries! – that they decided to hold the event on a Saturday.
Myself, Steph, Martin Venning, Angela Wren and A.K. Adams all write crime fiction but from very different stances. From cosy crime (Angela) to psychological (Steph), to crime based on true stories or experiences (Martin and A.K Adams) so it made for a lively discussion.
You can see more over on my YouTube channel, and you can see more by Books and Beverages over on their website.
I’d just like to say a massive thank you to Edwin and Sue for organising a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

It was great to meet everyone and a thoroughly enjoyable event.
